BOYDEN’S BELVEDERE
Perry, Maine - This
custom-built home is located on Boyden Lake in Perry. The waters of
Boyden Lake were once used as a source of power for lumber and grist
mills. Today it supplies drinking water to local communities and is
enjoyed for its recreational fishing for bass, salmon, trout, perch and
pickerel in summer and ice fishing in winter.
Belvedere means beautiful
view in Italian. There is a four-sided porch from which to enjoy the
view of the surrounding woods and water. One of the side decks has a
screened in area for outdoor dining. Wicker furniture on the deck
facing the water invites one to enjoy a steaming cup of coffee or tea
while watching the sun glint through the trees. The two upstairs
bedrooms have a balcony overlooking the water. The cupola on the
roof is accessed by a ladder and has seating around its perimeter to enjoy
your book or watch for eagles soaring above.
The house has some roomy
common space with an open plan for the living room, dining area and
kitchen. Hand-colored concrete counter tops in the kitchen set off the
stainless steel appliances. Overhead fans keep the breeze flowing
through-out the house. Two bedrooms are located downstairs.
One has a full size bed, the other two twin sized beds. There is an
oversized shower in the downstairs bathroom and a washer and dryer are
available for your use.
Upstairs are two additional
bedrooms. One room has a queen sized bed, the other a full sized
bed. Two more bathrooms are upstairs, each fitted with an
old-fashioned claw foot tub with shower surround and granite topped
vanities.
Located nearly a mile in
from the main road insures peaceful surroundings. There is a wood
chip path, which is lighted at night, to the water’s edge where you can
swim off the dock or slip your canoe or kayak in for a leisurely paddle
around the lake. If you have a small motor boat, you may launch it
at the public boat landing in Robbinston, only a sort distance away. |
